Pago del Cielo

WHERE THE STARS MEET THE EARTH

Pago del Cielo is the iconic wine of the Pago del Cielo winery, an elegant Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) with very limited production that originates from two unique owned vineyards, whose singularity lies in their soils, age, and location. Named after the winery, Pago del Cielo captures the essence of these old vines which are sublimated when combined, endowing it with complexity, freshness, and finesse.

Origin

The vineyard known as El Obispo, located in Piñel, in the Pesquera area, is characterized by its predominantly calcareous soils, which provide elegance, minerality, and a great aging potential to the wines. Las Tenadas, in La Horra, is a small plot with deep soils formed by clay and sand, which produce wines with more structure, intensity of aromas, and good acidity. This vineyard also has the particularity that among the old vines of Tinto Fino, there are some vines of Albillo Blanco, which are harvested and fermented together, adding brightness and freshness to the wine.

The two vineyards, situated at an average altitude of 840 meters, are 32 and 70 years old, respectively, and are cultivated using regenerative techniques such as grass sowing and reducing the number of tillage operations to contribute to the fight against climate change.

DO Ribera del Duero

Ribera del Duero is located in the Meseta Central or central plateau of the Iberian Peninsula, where the provinces of Soria, Burgos, Segovia, and Valladolid converge. It is home to a 115 km by 35 km strip of vineyard that stretches along the Duero river basin. It is one of the highest vineyards in the northern hemisphere, a high-altitude, complex land whose harsh climate produces exceptionally high-quality grapes.
