Projects and Subsidies
SELECCIÓN DE TORRES (Ribera del Duero) has carried out an energy savings and energy efficiency project that resulted in the replacement of a piece of filtration equipment with a new, energy-efficient piece of equipment.
This project received aid through Spain’s Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE), co-funded by the European Union through the ERDF Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014-2020.
The INTERACCIONA project will develop an industralisable technological solution for preparing printed functional labels based on developments in the different elements of the value chain: design, development of materials and processes, development of machinery, implementation of the final product on rotary presses and validation.
The project will create an industrial pre-series of smart labels for bottles of wines and spirits with light and sensory functions for interaction between the bottled product and its medium and its network connectivity.
Project co-financed by the MINISTRY OF THE ECONOMY, INDUSTRY AND COMPETITIVENESS and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the Challenge-Cooperation Call of the State Programme for Research, Development and Innovation oriented towards Challenges of Society, in the framework of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016. The main aim of this call is to promote technological development, innovation and quality research.
FAMILIA TORRES has implemented an energy saving and efficiency project located at their winery in Pacs del Penedès, 08796 (Barcelona). As a result of this project, two energy efficiency measures have been carried out: installing thermal insulation on a cooling pipe system and installation of real-time monitoring and control systems in the waste water treatment plant. Investment of 120.486,17 €, subsidy received 36.145,85 €.
This project has received a grant through the INSTITUTO DE DIVERSIFICACIÓN Y AHORRO DE LA ENERGÍA (IDAE). This grant has been co-financed by the European Union through the “Programa Operativo FEDER de Crecimiento Inteligente 2014-2020”.
GLOBALVITI is the project of an industrial research and experimental development consortium that aims to improve wine production in the context of climate change by employing new technologies, biotechnological strategies and vineyard management.
The consortium comprises eight companies: Familia Torres, as project leader, Pago de Carraovejas, Bodegas Ramón Bilbao, Juvé & Camps, Bodegas Martín Códax, Grupo Hispatec, Pellenc Ibérica and Viveros Villanueva Vides, together with thirteen national reference research organisations.
The project has an overall budget of € 8.8 million, is financially supported by the CDTI’s CIEN programme and will run until July 2020.
The main objective of the VINYSOST project is to improve the quality and competitiveness of Spanish wines by sustainably managing production in large vineyards, thus responding to some of the great challenges of the Spanish wine sector.
It has a budget of almost €7.5 million and is co-financed by the European Union and the CDTI (Centre for Industrial Technological Development) with ERDF funds through the multi-regional Operational Programme for Smart Growth 2014-2020 within the framework of the Strategic Programme of National Business Research Consortia (CIEN).
It is a consortium R&D project, composed of some of the most important wineries and companies in the wine sector in our country: Grupo Codorníu Raventós (consortium leader), La Rioja Alta, S.A, Familia Torres, Bodegas Barbadillo, Francisco Oller, Lallemand Bio, Martín Códax, and Bodegas Roda.
Also taking part in the project are ten of the most important research centres on the national wine-science scene, which are working to lay the technological foundations for improving the sector’s sustainability and its international competitiveness through their commitment to innovation.
The actions planned in the framework of the project began on 1 August 2014 and will conclude on 31 July 2018, with a work plan that includes three major technical activities corresponding to the acronyms VITISOST, ENO+ and WINESOST.
FAMILIA TORRES has implemented a project of energy saving and efficiency, located in Pacs del Penedès Winery (Barcelona). As a result of this project two energy efficiency measures have been carried out: Energy optimization in production and distribution of steam through the substitution of a steam boiler and thermal insulation on steam collector and piping system, obtaining an estimated saving of 17,99 tep/year resulting in an investment of 132.495,86 € and a subsidy amount of 22.392,26 €
This project has received grant through the INSTITUTO DE DIVERSIFICACIÓN Y AHORRO DE LA ENERGÍA (IDAE). This grant has been co-financed by de European Union through the “Programa Operativo FEDER de Crecimiento Inteligente 2014-2020”.
FARMYNG is a consortium formed by 20 companies from 8 countries. Founded in the framework of 'Horizon 2020 Public-Private Partnership Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking' (topic BBI.2018.F2 - Large-scale production of proteins for food and feed applications from alternative, sustainable sources), it aims to produce proteins from insects for animal feed. In parallel, the waste will be recovered for use as soil fertilisers.
Familia Torres participates in the project to study the viability of these fertilisers, which would have a lower carbon footprint than conventional fertilisers as they are byproducts. This research is part of its commitment to reduce CO2 emissions to help mitigate the effects of climate change.
