Familia Torres has joined the global B Corp community after meeting the rigorous standards required for certification, achieving a score of 121.3 points, well above the minimum 80 points required. The winery thus becomes part of a global movement of more than 10,000 companies committed to driving an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy.
Since April 2026, B Lab – the organisation behind the B Corp movement – has certified that all Familia Torres wineries, from Spain to Chile, where the family produces its wines, spirits, as well as oils and vinegars, meet the demanding criteria to qualify as a B Corp company in terms of social and environmental performance, transparency and legal accountability.
A regenerative and resilient business model
B Corp certification acknowledges that Familia Torres’ business model generates positive impact directly through its core activity. This is largely driven by its commitment to regenerative and organic viticulture and the production of organic wines, among other initiatives. The company has embraced a regenerative business model that does not limit itself to reducing its negative impact, but aspires to restore ecosystems, communities and natural resources, and to contribute to soil health, biodiversity and the local socio-economic landscape.
These outcomes are underpinned by innovative farming practices, proactive water management and soil conservation policies, as well as the winery’s leadership in climate action and biodiversity protection through its environmental programme “Torres & Earth”. In recent decades, the winery has harnessed sustainability-driven innovation as a lever to strengthen long-term resilience and create value both for the company and its wider environment. This approach is exemplified by projects such as the recovery of ancestral grape varieties, initiated in the 1980s.
B Corp has also awarded a high score to the way Familia Torres operates, recognising it as a benchmark for responsible, values-driven conduct. Its approach is based on policies and operational practices designed to continually improve its impact on governance, people, the environment, local communities and the value chain. In addition to fostering local economic development and generating a positive impact in its home territories, the family-owned winery has co-founded international organisations that promote sustainability in the wine sector, such as IWCA (International Wineries for Climate Action) and the Regenerative Viticulture Association (AVR).
Mireia Torres, Director of Innovation and Sustainability at Familia Torres, emphasises the collective nature of the achievement and the role of B Corp as a catalyst for change: “B Corp helps us integrate social, environmental and financial sustainability into every decision we make and to continue driving ongoing improvement in everything we do. On my own behalf and on behalf of my entire family, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all our colleagues who, through their commitment and with the leadership of our Managing Director, Fabrice Ducceschi, have made this recognition possible.”
Lucas Hunter, Interim CEO of B Lab Spain, states: "We are delighted to welcome Familia Torres to the B Corp community. This global community works to reduce inequality, to respect and regenerate the environment, and to strengthen communities while creating high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose. Familia Torres is a new member of this community, leading by example and showing how these goals can be achieved in practice."
B Corp: a new step in Familia Torres’ roadmap
For Familia Torres, B Corp is not an end point but a further step in its long-term roadmap. The family, now in its fifth generation of grape growing and wine and spirits production, has always combined inherited tradition with a consistent commitment to innovation. As fifth-generation family member Miguel Torres M. explains: “As grape growers and winemakers, my family has always worked with deep respect for the land and our surroundings. Becoming a B Corp does not change our DNA, but it does formalise it and make it more visible to customers and consumers around the world. This certification encourages us to continue using our vineyards and wineries as a transformative force for people and the environment, aligned with our purpose of creating moments of joy and bringing people together for a better world.”
* During the B Corp certification process, Familia Torres received support from ACCIÓ, the business growth agency of the Government of Catalonia, through its growth and strategic change programme, which aims to promote sustainability in companies through innovation.
