Pago del Cielo, the Ribera del Duero estate of Familia Torres, is proud to introduce Celeste Eclipse Limited Edition 2022, an exclusive wine conceived to celebrate the forthcoming solar eclipse on 12 August. This captivating astronomical event will be visible in all its splendour from the Pago del Cielo winery, where the night skies are exceptionally clear and the stars shine with remarkable intensity.
Celeste Eclipse Limited Edition 2022 offers a distinctive way to mark this celestial occasion, creating a memorable experience for enthusiasts of both fine wine and astronomy. Its minimalist, elegant packaging is inspired by the luminous corona of the eclipse set against the dark night sky and is complemented by an embossed label that traces the horizon line of the Fompedraza moorlands, underscoring the profound connection between the heavens and the landscape from which this wine originates.
“We have crafted this wine from a selection of our finest, east-facing vineyard plots around Pesquera, situated at altitudes between 790 and 830 metres and planted with vines over 30 years old,” explains oenologist Juan Ramon García, who leads Familia Torres’ winegrowing project in Ribera del Duero.
Celeste Eclipse Limited Edition 22 is a single-varietal Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), matured for 12 months in barrel and subsequently cellared for a minimum of 12 months in bottle. The wine displays a deep, brilliant picota cherry hue with garnet highlights and offers intense aromas of wild berries, Mediterranean herbs such as thyme and subtle nuances from oak ageing. On the palate, it is taut yet silky, with rounded, well-integrated tannins and a distinctly fruit-driven finish.
This limited release joins the existing wines in the Celeste range under the Ribera del Duero DO – Celeste Reserva, Celeste Crianza and Celeste Roble – as well as Celeste Verdejo under the Rueda DO. All of these wines share not only the Celeste name, but also the signature wrap-around label depicting the constellations that illuminate the skies during harvest nights.
