CELESTE transforms its Ribera del Duero wine estate into a spectacular viewpoint for the total solar eclipse

13 August 2026

Pago del Cielo, the Familia Torres winery in DO Ribera del Duero, experienced a truly historic day yesterday during the total solar eclipse. CELESTE, the estate’s flagship brand, welcomed an intimate group of guests from several countries to its wine estate. Pago del Cielo, located at 895 metres above sea level, became one of the region’s prime astronomical viewpoints thanks to the crystal-clear skies and the absence of light pollution.

As the eclipse unfolded, guests toasted with Celeste Eclipse Limited Edition 2022, a single-varietal Tinto Fino red aged for 12 months in barrel. The wine was created as a tribute to this extraordinary phenomenon and as a way to deepen the connection between the sky, the vineyard and the Ribera del Duero landscape. Its minimalist packaging, inspired by the eclipse corona, features an embossed label that traces the horizon line of the Fompedraza moorlands.

The event concluded with a dinner at the winery, paired with other wines from the CELESTE range, in an atmosphere first shaped by the shifting light of the eclipse and later by the star-filled Ribera del Duero night sky. It was a memorable experience that brought together science, nature and wine culture around a once-in-a-lifetime event.
