Familia Torres, recognized as one of the Best Sustainable Producers in Spain 2024 in the prizes that BBVA awards in collaboration with El Celler de Can Roca, reaffirms its unwavering commitment to sustainability and excellence with its organic wine, Clos Ancestral 2022 (DO Penedès). This wine has taken center stage in the culinary proposal of the Roca brothers, who have crafted recipes with the winning products of the fifth edition of these prestigious awards.
Josep Roca, maître and co-owner of El Celler de Can Roca, describes the wine as follows: "Ancestral by name, faithful to the perseverance and dedication of an emblematic family, it is a wine with a message. It strikes a balance between taste comfort and an unwavering commitment to sustainability. It is part of the DNA of Familia Torres, and in its fifth generation, they demonstrate their values through authentic wines such as this jubilant Clos Ancestral."
In the newly presented tasting note, Spain's most renowned sommelier highlights Clos Ancestral 2022 for its “enveloping touch and pleasant finish. Fruits and spices embrace each other warmly in harmony, complemented by noble notes of wood and a connection to the earth through aging in clay jars; showcasing the light of the Mediterranean in every glass."
Clos Ancestral is the result of an ambitious project that Familia Torres initiated forty years ago: the recovery of ancestral grape varieties. Moneu, a native grape of the Penedès region, takes center stage in this blend, which is completed with Tempranillo and Garnacha Tinta. Born on the Castell de la Bleda estate, this organic wine pays tribute to the region's 2,700 years of winemaking history, seamlessly combining tradition, innovation and sustainability.
