Pazo das Bruxas Godello
Pazo das Bruxas Godello is the wine that recovers the character of the old Galician wines, where fruit and flowers are harmonized with a powerful structure on the palate. Born in the Monterrei DO, in old vineyards located at more than 400,m400,m of altitude, it challenges the threats of climate change and offers a complex and traditional version of the Pazo das Bruxas universe.
In 2026, the fifth generation of Familia Torres started a new wine project in the Monterrei DO with the production of their first godello wine under the Pazo das Bruxas brand, mainly sourced from selected vineyards in the Valle de Monterrei and the Ladera de Monterrei, which reflect the continental character with Atlantic influence typical of this historic Galician appellation.
DO Monterrei
The Monterrei Designation of Origin is a small but historic wine-growing area located in the southeast of Galicia, in the province of Ourense, very close to the border with Portugal and structured around the valley of the river Támega. The vineyard is organized into two subzones, Valle de Monterrei and Ladera de Monterrei, with mainly granitic and slate soils and a marked fragmentation of landholdings. Its climate is continental with Atlantic influence, with hot summers, cold winters and a significant temperature range, which favours a balanced ripening of the grapes. The appellation is characterized by its commitment to native varieties, especially the white godello and treixadura, and the red mencía and araúxa (tempranillo), which give rise to modern-style wines with a distinctly Galician character: fresh, aromatic whites with good acidity, and fruity, balanced reds with notable elegance.
