Pisco El Gobernador
Felipe Margutt Donaire was an independent thinker, a courageous man who became the Governor of Ovalle, a beautiful town in northern Chile. He never sought fame or wealth, but shared all his assets to help his city prosper. Inspired by Don Felipe’s tenacity and free spirit, Torres decided to apply its long tradition in brandy making. This pisco embodies the true spirit of the Governor.
In 1928 in Penedès, Spain, Juan Torres Casals began distilling his wines to produce brandy. Eighty-four years later, this experience inspired Miguel Torres Maczassek to create the winery’s first Pisco in Chile.
In the IV Region, in the Limarí Valley, the Moscatel grape variety is harvested —a perfect variety to give flavor to this wonderful spirit, “El Gobernador,” the name of our Pisco Reservado.
Valle de Limarí. Chile
Located in the Coquimbo region, in northern Chile, the Limarí Valley has established itself as one of the country’s most unique and promising wine regions. Its proximity to the Atacama Desert and the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean’s sea breeze create a semi-arid climate, with sunny days and cool nights, ideal for grape growing. The Limarí Valley stretches across landscapes of calcareous soils and gentle hills, where low rainfall and pure air favor the production of high-quality grapes.
The uniqueness of this appellation is especially reflected in its white wines, such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, which stand out for their freshness, minerality, and elegance. Notable red wines are also produced, especially Syrah and Pinot Noir. The combination of innovation, tradition, and respect for the environment has positioned the Limarí Valley as an emerging benchmark in Chilean winemaking, recognized both nationally and internationally.
