Familia Torres's El Celleret Restaurant in Pacs del Penedès reopened on May 28, welcoming guests to enjoy a dining experience adapted to the new circumstances. Last summer, Familia Torres inaugurated its new wine restaurant on the iconic Mas La Plana estate. Now the winery is taking full advantage of its idyllic location – amid vineyards with views of Montserrat mountain – to set up tables and chill out areas on the terrace and throughout the garden and vineyard. This gives guests the chance to enjoy Familia Torres wines and a new selection of culinary delicacies in a setting that complies with the safety measures recommended by health authorities.
El Celleret is open Thursday through Sunday, from noon until 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 7 pm on Thursdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Reservations are required. The kitchen works with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced products to create small plates or charcoal-grilled specialties on the Josper (a hybrid charcoal grill-oven commonly found at fine dining establishments). These, of course, find their perfect match in Familia Torres wines from leading Spanish appellations of origin, Chile, and California. Among the à la carte options, guests will find traditional recipes like escalivada on crispy flatbread with romesco sauce, esqueixada cod salad, and Penedès cockerel braised in wine, as well as rice dishes and salads. And for dessert, pears poached in Muscat wine, carquiñoles (almond biscotti), and much more.
In addition to outdoor dining, El Celleret offers guests an original experience to fully connect with nature at a time when the vines are bursting with life: picnics in the Mas La Plana vineyard. As part of this experience – which also requires advanced booking – guests receive a picnic basket from the restaurant, complete with assorted charcuterie, olives, croquettes, and Catalan tomato bread paired with Penedès wines. The restaurant also hosts sunset concerts on Saturdays to brighten the late spring and summer evenings. The concert series kicked off on Saturday, May 30, at 8 pm with Vilafranca-based singer Lucas Dalman who gained a popular following during the lockdown.
Finally, Familia Torres is also resuming its wine tours with a brand new experience that focuses on the region and vineyard: Origin. As visitors take a walk through the vineyard, they discover the history of this winemaking family and the winery, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, as well as the importance of biodiversity and sustainability when it comes to making prestigious wines. The tour concludes with a tasting of two wines in the El Celleret garden. This one-hour experience is only available in the mornings, at set times, for a maximum of 9 people. Advanced booking is required.
