A legacy built through the efforts of five generations

Jaime Torres Vendrell, together with his brother Miguel, founded the company and built the winery in front of the Vilafranca del Penedès railway station. They come from a family of winegrowers whose origins date back to 1678.

Familia Torres expands to Chile and becomes the first foreign winery in the Andean country. Vineyards are planted and the first stainless steel tanks and new oak barrels are imported from Spain.

Familia Torres acquires land in the Sonoma County region of the Russian River / Green Valley, California, to start a new wine project to be managed by Marimar. In 1986, the plantation of chardonnay and pinot noir begins.

The Great Exhibit Hall at the Miguel Torres Foundation was inaugurated.

Mireia Torres Maczassek, member of the family’s fifth generation, is appointed Director of the Jean Leon and Torres Priorat wineries.
