Familia Torres has achieved exceptional results at the latest edition of the prestigious international wine competition Mundus Vini, securing three “Best of Show” distinctions in their respective designations of origin, together with eight gold medals for its limited-production wines. These honours further consolidate the family-owned winery as a benchmark on the international stage and underline the strength of its long-standing commitment to excellence and to the distinctive identity of its wines.
Among the award-winning wines, three labels stand out for having achieved the top accolade within their DO. Mas La Plana 2020 has been named “Best of Show Penedès”, Salmos 2022 has been awarded “Best of Show Priorat”, and Celeste Reserva 2021 has been recognised as “Best of Show Ribera del Duero Reserva”. All three wines also received gold medals and achieved the highest scores in their respective categories, placing them at the forefront of the wines presented from these appellations.
Mas La Plana 2020 (DO Penedès) once again confirms its status as one of the country’s great Cabernet Sauvignons. The Mundus Vini jury highlighted its depth, balance and remarkable ageing potential – qualities that define and reinforce the style of this iconic wine. Mas La Plana forms part of the Antología Miguel Torres collection, a selection of Família Torres’ most emblematic wines, produced from meticulously selected vineyards, in limited quantities and with a clear intention of expressing the character of their origin.
In DOQ Priorat, Salmos 2022 has been awarded the title of “Best of Show Priorat” as well as a gold medal. Crafted mainly from Carignan and Garnacha (Grenache), the wine focuses on the typicity of a single municipality, Porrera, with grapes sourced largely from the family’s own vineyards in the higher-lying part of the area. Salmos impressed the jury with its intense aromatics, marked minerality and fine tannins, which faithfully mirror the dramatic topography and the distinctive llicorella slate soils that characterise the region.
Celeste Reserva 2021, produced at Pago del Cielo, the Familia Torres winery in Ribera del Duero, has been distinguished as “Best of Show Ribera del Duero Reserva” and likewise awarded a gold medal. This Tinto Fino, made predominantly from vines over 40 years old planted at high altitude, was commended for its harmony, vibrant acidity and aromatic complexity, displaying notes of ripe black fruit, spice and subtle nuances of barrel ageing. Its freshness and elegance position it among the leading wines of DO Ribera del Duero.
In addition to these three top distinctions, several other Familia Torres wines were awarded gold medals at Mundus Vini: Milmanda 2022 (DO Conca de Barberà), Grans Muralles 2020 (DO Conca de Barberà), Gran Coronas 2022 (DO Penedès), Purgatori 2023 (DO Costers del Segre) and Malpastor 2022 (DOCa Rioja). Taken together, these wines showcase the breadth and diversity of the family’s wine-growing project, spanning regions with markedly different identities, always with a strong focus on origin, excellence and on responsible, environmentally aware viticulture. The list of accolades is completed by three silver medals for Clos Ancestral 2024 (DO Penedès), Celeste Crianza 2022 (DO Ribera del Duero) and Pazo das Bruxas 2025 (DO Rías Baixas).
The Mundus Vini Grand International Awards, held twice a year by the German publishing group Meininger Verlag, is regarded as one of the most significant wine competitions worldwide. At its Spring Tasting 2026, a jury of international experts has blind tasted approximately 5,500 wines, from numerous producing regions around the world. Its assessment criteria – centred on quality, typicity and balance – give considerable weight to the results, which are closely followed by professionals and consumers across the globe.
