A year in the vineyard

1. Inflorescence
April. Dawn shows itself at the Mas la Plana Estate, heart of the Penedès. Among poppies and dotted with drops of dew, the vineyard stretches after its winter hibernation. Early spring cradles the incipient clusters, still grouped, huddled, and shakes the extended green leaves of the vines that colour the landscape. Green, blue, earth and light.
2. Flowering
Life takes shape. Inflorescence becomes flowering. Clusters, previously grouped, appear clearly separated and open to the light, a vital explosion that marks the beginning of the long road to ripening.
3. Setting
June's light illuminates the natural evolution of the vine. Now is when the flower becomes a fruit. The grapes, still shy, ignore their potential and exhibit youth's naivety, whose features yet to be defined after veraison, are hidden in a green uniform.
4. Veraison
In July white grapes dress in gold, red grapes in violet and deep crimson. Haughty and beautiful, pigmentation surrounds their essence, awaiting impending ripness. Colour defines the grape as consciousness defines reason.
5. Harvest
When grapes know they are complete, mature and willing, when their acidity and sweetness melt into an embrace, nature gives us the baton for shaping a new life, born from experience and effort, nestled among oak and silence, swayed by science and passion.
6. Leaf fall
Whentemperaturesfall, the leavesare tinged withochre andbronzebefore drying and finally falling. The vinegraduallysettles downand begins itslong winter sleep.
7. Pruning
In winter, when the vine is in suspended animation, the hand of man leads and guides the plant, molding, drawing its future shape, limiting the free growth of the branches and regulating its production of fruit.
8. Budding
After a long wait, due to the cold snap in February, the first buds finally appeared. We were there, and we want to share with you the joy we felt.
