We need a new way of communicating wine

Much has been – and continues to be – written about the wine world. These days, in fact, technology has converged to such a degree that the amount of information available to us can be downright overwhelming. Simply Google the word “wine” and you'll see what we're talking about.

This dizzying digital revolution has made wine culture far more accessible, allowing people to engage directly with wine. Now it is easy for everyone to consume, produce and share information about the passion that unites us.

This calls for a celebration...because it wasn't always this way. Despite not being intentionally exclusive, wine culture seemed to be produced for and consumed by industry insiders. Among consumers this further encouraged an image of wine as something remote and inaccessible. Obviously, this is a generalization, and many factors contributed to the majority of mortals seeing wine as the exclusive domain of the few. (Social and cultural factors, excessively technical language, etc.)

Whatever the reasons, we recognized the situation for what it was...over thirty years ago.

During the early 1980s, the Wine Cultural Center opened in Barcelona. Madrid, Valencia, Gran Canaria and Tenerife soon followed. What was the goal of these centers? We wanted to bring the greatest number of people into contact with wine culture by offering workshops, tastings and courses.

Accessible wine culture, Club Torres for everyone

Today, we still pursue the same goal, but the means and channels have changed. Club Torres embodies the natural evolution toward barrier-free and borderless information management. It is a great wine cultural center that is open to everyone, all of the time.

As wine producers, we have to keep a new mission statement in mind: making good wines isn't enough. We have to lift communication barriers and listen, learn and let anyone who is interested share in our experience, our knowledge of the vine and everything surrounding it.

Let's make up for lost time. This is the moment to open up to the world and make peace with wine. Our wine. Your wine.
